Switzerland can be divided into three distinct geographical regions. The Alps cover roughly 58% of the country, the Central Plateau around 31% and the Jura 11%. It has 49 four-thousanders – mountain peaks that are 4,000 metres or higher.

Switzerland is famous for its mountains, clocks and its food – especially cheese and chocolates. It's a fantastic place for winter sports. The British Royals love to snowboard in Klosters while skiing in Zermatt gives you fantastic views of the iconic Matterhorn mountain.

So we have plenty of humidity, rivers and such, which allow vegetation to grow. The upper limit of trees is at about 1600 meters. So Switzerland is green not in spite of its mountains, but thanks to them.
